TV Interviews – whether it’s a fact-finding mission or simply to entertain us, anything can happen and often does! But, when things go horribly wrong, we just can’t get enough of them. We’ve got the less-than-perfect moments from the TV’s most popular interview programmes including The Jonathan Ross Show, Newsnight and late night show The Word in this 2-hour special narrated by Ken Bruce.
Highlights include the time Danny Dyer was given the challenge not to swear on The Jonathan Ross Show. Just how long could the potty-mouthed Dyer last before the interview was cursed? Not long! Veteran reporter Nick Wallis’s heavyweight interview with a champion boxer turns to fury when some difficult questions are asked. Self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury storms out of the ITV interview after just 30 seconds, leaving the reporter to question what just happened. Some presenters down under have difficulty keeping up with Kourtney Kardashian during an interview via satellite link. There are some long-awkward silences which make the hosts in the studio think, wrongly, that they’re being given the brush-off.
Other highlights include the time famed journalist Molly Parkin enjoyed a bit too much hospitality while guesting on Pebble Mill at One resulting in car-crash TV. Rod Hull has a hand in an interview with the legendary Bill Oddie resulting in feathers flying when Emu lets loose. And on classic chat show Wogan, his guest, Hollywood leading man Nicolas Cage, makes an impression for all the wrong reasons when he kickstarts his appearance with some somersaults and karate moves; resulting in one of the craziest interviews of all time.
Plus, there’s bad behaviour from Johnny Rotten and Piers Morgan, which may come as no surprise to anyone. Oliver Reed makes a startling admission and there’s a long-forgotten interview with Olivia Newton John in which she falls off her seat laughing – literally.
Interviewees include veteran broadcasters Sir Martyn Lewis & Michael Buerk and comedian Verona Rose.
