TV would be nothing without its guests. They’re there, right at the heart of the action. Whether they’re sat on the sofa or beaming to the studio via a live link, when things go horribly wrong we just can’t get enough of them. This 2-hour special narrated by Fern Britton features moments from some of TV’s most memorable guests. Whether they’re suffering a slip of the tongue, a technical meltdown or having a bust-up, we’ve got some of the things that have made them memorable for all the wrong reasons.
There are less-than-perfect moments from the likes of Piers Morgan, Jonathan Ross and global superstars Stormzy and Dame Shirley Bassey as well as some Horribly Wrong guests from around the world. There are rib-tickling and sometimes shocking first-hand accounts from the people who were there including Happy Mondays star Bez who gained some notoriety he could probably do without when he was accused of cheating on Bargain Hunt. BBC Breakfast gets awkward when weatherman Matt Taylor is asked by presenters Charlie Stayt and Louise Minchin if he’s a fan of Rick Astley only for him to reply, within earshot of the ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ singer, that he isn’t. And former politician Lembit Opik remembers the time he was persona non grata on Sky News.
Other highlights include the moment Steph’s Packed Lunch sent Big Narstie to sleep. Kathy Burke’s foul-mouthed rant on The Comedy Awards sends the bleep machine into overdrive and Norman Wisdom tries his hand at cookery on Gloria Hunniford’s chat show with disastrous consequences.
Contributors include presenters Richard Arnold, Lucrezia Millarini, James Whale and comedian Stephen Bailey.
