WHEN TV COOKERY GOES HORRIBLY WRONG

Perfectly pan-fried starters, mouth-watering mains, and gloriously sumptuous deserts, our TV screens are dominated by a vast menu of cookery shows and segments and we can’t enough of them. However, when things don’t go according to plan, they can leave a bad taste in your mouth.

This 3-hour special narrated by Ainsley Harriott features the less-than-perfect moments from some of the nation’s best-loved cookery TV shows including Masterchef, Saturday Kitchen, Sunday Brunch and Come Dine With Me. There are disastrous moments from TV cookery’s biggest stars past and present including Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay, James Martin and veteran TV chef Julia Child.

Highlights include the time Keith Floyd’s frying set the smoke alarms off resulting in filming being rudely interrupted by firefighters. Things kick off on Celebrity Masterchef when one contestant can’t stand the heat in the kitchen, and so does a runner. And Richard Blackwood leaves Sunday Brunch viewers scratching their heads when he fails to understand how to zest a lemon.

There are hilarious first-hand accounts from the people who were there including presenter Dominic Littlewood who relives the time he famously dropped a kitchen timer in a tandoor oven, with hilarious consequences. Bake Off star Ruby Bhogal opens up about her kitchen nightmare when her showstopping cake collapsed. And Michaela Strachan recalls the time she sent a dish flying across the studio live on air.

Plus, Tim Lovejoy takes a tumble live in front of shocked viewers. Marco Pierre White has one of his infamous on-air meltdowns. And Fanny Cradock takes things too far, ending her own TV career in the process. Interviewees include Anthony Worrall Thompson, Aldo Zilli, Rosemary Shrager and Oz Clarke.
