This nostalgic romp through classic kids TV cock-ups, features all the favourite shows like Ant, Dec & Cat’s SM:TV Live, Tiswas, Blue Peter, Rainbow, How 2, Going Live & Saturday Superstore – plus hilarious and sometimes shocking, first-hand accounts from the stars that were there including Sarah Greene, Sally James, Pat Sharp, Andi Akinwolere, Gaz Top, Toby Anstis, Rainbow’s original ‘Bungle’ and legendary Blue Peter Star Valerie Singleton.
Scary puppets, rampant animals, inappropriate behaviour and unpredictable kids are just some of the things that have left viewers through the years shocked, confused or just howling with laughter.
Highlights include Valerie Singleton recounting her brush with danger when a campfire in the Blue Peter studio burned out of control next to a group of girl guides, Bungle actor John Leeson remembers his original Rainbow costume which was more American Werewolf than cuddly bear and veteran presenter Sarah Greene recalls the guest on Going Live who announced to the audience of children that she was wearing no knickers!
There’s also a vintage treasure from an early episode of The Flintstones where Fred & Barney Rubble light up a cigarette, tell the audience the merits of that brand, and all whilst watching their stone-age wives toil away with the housework. And in the Golden Age of Television, there’s the Public Information Film voiced by Donald Pleasance that scared children of the 1970’s half to death.
Finally there are rare moments of imperfection from kid’s TV favourites SMTV Live, Noel Edmonds’ Multi-Coloured Swap Shop and Dick & Dom in da Bungalow.
Celebrities commentating on clips include Anthea Turner, Ray Quinn and Pat Sharp.
