Throughout the years there have been countless TV programmes that became iconic.
From soap operas to game shows, News programmes to talent shows, this is the telly that couldn’t be missed. These must-see shows have left us with countless fond memories.
But they didn’t always go to plan.
This 3-hour special narrated by Chris Tarrant features the less-than-perfect moments from some of the nation’s favourite shows over the years, from the black and white days of the 1960s and Dixon of Dock Green, to the colour 1970’s The Generation Game, right through the 80s, 90s and 00s to the present day.
There are disastrous moments from classic stars including Lenny Henry, Lorraine Kelly, Oliver Reed and Russell Harty. There are first-hand accounts from the people who were there including former children’s TV presenter Mark Curry who recalls the time he crashed the set of Blue Peter with a miniature steam engine. Mastermind contestant Simon Curtis opens up about the time he suffered brain freeze during his specialist subject round resulting in one of the worst scores in the show’s history. And breakfast royalty Anne Diamond and Nick Owen relive the storm in an egg cup at TV-AM.
There is also the Classic TV that we still love and watch today including the time when Paddy McGuinness broke the iconic One Show set. An intruder disrupts the special 25th anniversary episode of The Morning in front of shocked viewers. And Gogglebox’s, Jenny & Lee are left with a bad taste in their mouth after mistaking face cream for their sofa snack!
